I've been getting an occassional "transmission malfunction" reading on the dash from time to time on startup. Upon performing the TCU self-diagnostic procedure a code "B" is indicating a problem with the line pressure solenoid circuit, a common problem with these electronically controlled transmissons as I am told. My question is this...Can this problem cause any issue with engine drivability? Here's some brief history....I have just overcome a previous problem with 2 clogged injectors causing a rough idle and noticablemisfire/shaking that has since worked its way clean with 3 bottlles of Chevron Techron, an induction cleaning and new spark plugs. However lately I have been getting a terrible surging and an occassional pop/backfire into the intake bellows upon acceleration. The car seems to occassionally clean itself up and run smoothly from time to time (and when it does you can feel a huge difference!) only to bog down again. When you push the accelerator it sounds like a big american carbureted car surging out! I fixed one major issue with the missing injectors now to only be plagued with yet another one with this surging/backfiring. Can anyone give some advice here? Thanks!

And the fuel rail pressure is what when these conditions occur?

Never seen solenoid problems on well maintained and frequently flushed Q trannies......unlike most other brands- Toyota/Lexus, Honda etc. Valve body varnish stuck check valves might be a consideration or if the pump is leaking so that the pressure [to shift] has a hard time accomplishing it.
