I've done some searching and seen that the 90-93 Q45s all came with a RE4R03A 51x65 transmission, but I just need clarification that all transmissions from 90-93 will swap directly on to any 90-93 Q (given it has the stock motor). Can anyone clarify that this is true? If it isn't true, which transmissions are interchangeable?

Thanks!

-Matt

Shouldn't be a problem.

What about 1996? When I compared the 1995 illustration in the shop manual to the one for 1996, I could see no difference.

yes....the 1996 is interchangeable. Also according to LevelTen the Y33 are interchangeable as well, but that has yet to be proven. I would love to know if one of the new M45 5 speeds are interchangeable. I would do this mod again in a heart beat if I coudl have a 5-speed auto. Then my car would just be too damn much fun probably running mid 13's giving the gearing in the M45 and 1/4 times compared to what I can do with a 4 speed.

The funny thing is there should be. Part of the OBD-II is trans monitoring. But like most 1996 stuff.... not all of it meets full OBD-II compliance.

I was wondering on the transmissions also... Seems like my car might need one....

So in theory, you could get a JDM Y33 5sp auto and with just some wiring and TCU work it would work.

No because iirc the Y33 5speed was only mounted to the VQ
