D= low battery voltage, battery discoed for along time [Jump start], or battery reversed or connector problems.

LOL

Im sorry you'll see my reminder at the bottom to put in the code list, however that didnt prove to be effective did it?

Code D means that the battery was disconnected or got low at one point in time. nothing to worry about.

Here are the relevant pages from the FSM. This is for a 1994, but it should be similar.

Hello again. This really is one of the best car clubs on web - you guys answer quickly and obviously know a lot about these Infinitis. The D code that comes up just tells me my battery was disconnected but the transmission is doing something bad and that can't be the answer. Am i suppose to be counting the light beeps when I'm performing the code or just wait for the computer to do its thing and then spit out the code D and that's it?

What happens is this: cold car - starts up fine, put in drive or reverse - feels fine, drives down road normally to about 100 - 200 yards, but doesn't seem to want to come out of second gear. It begins to slip loke and rpms go up but car not moving proper speed until finally just sits there despite giving gas. Reverse doesn't work either. Turn off ignition, wait maybe15 secs, turn back on and can go another 50- 100 yards and dies again. Can repeat again and does same, etc, etc. etc. Limps on home - don't believe it ever gets out of first gear though after that initial first 200 yard drive.

I have new fluid, filter, trans cooler, in line filter- car had all that done 4-5 months ago and was driving fine for maybe 3 -499 miles worth. I'm selling it and wasn't driving much with it. Any help would be once again greatly appreciated.

(Cleaned it up a bit for you, Matt - you're more likely to get a good response if you make it easier to read - capital letters and paragraphs and sentences and such. 96Qowner)

Yes, you're supposed to be counting the light flashes. I assume you've read the manual by now?

The typical first symptom of a failed Q45 transmission is failure to go into reverse. Your symptoms are somewhat different, but don't be too surprised if it turns out the transmission is toast - they're not terribly long-lived.

Count those flashes, consult the FSM and get back to us.
