In the past year my 98 Q45 has developed a slight front tire wobble between 50 and 60 MPH. Tire balance has been checked by my trusted tire store and everything seems OK. I have not checked bearings or any steering part up.

Any ideas what could be causing this wobble and where I should start looking?

Thanks, Bruce

What is the radial force [after balancing] on each tire mounted on wheel.

Infiniti uses a maximum spec of 12-15 pounds of force but 5-7 pounds is a maximum I use.A 0.001 inch run-out being equivalent to approximately four pounds of radial forceBrake rotors usually change vibrations as they heat up just as tires do.

Only Michelin has a chance of meeting a low radial force spec as every tire is tested at factory independent of wheel low enough to deal with typical oem wheel.

New Aftermarket wheels are the usual culprit as they exceed 0.001" in runout on inner face [inside portion of wheel].

Once an oem wheel has 60k of use it may be out of spec from rough road/street use.

I am on my 3rd set of newish oem wheels. Purchased 2 sets takeoff back in 1995 for pennies. The rough road [passengerside] are usually the first to go out of spec?

If the wheels are fairly true, the tires in good shape and freshly balanced then perhaps you have a bad bearing (??) On old style bearings wobble at sped was indicative of wear. Replacement was cheap and easy and often solved the problem. These mothers are a different animal. I have not done a set, but from looking at the FSM they require a press to be removed and reinstalled, so a bit more of a job than simple cone bearings.

I've never done a set and I'm just tossing this out as something to consider. Take some time and do a search...you may find some additional info.

Good luck and let us know what the culprit was.

I've found a Bad TC Rod Bushings can cause this too. Same symptoms except there steering wheel does a slight shimmy around 50-60.
