OK, recently i was involved in a situation where my car was going in tight circles behind the local pub when the right rear tire struck a curb as the car was spinning.....follow? The visual damage was a broken wheel, the bead, a bent rr lower control arm, a twisted front upper rrcontrol arm, and a mangled inner rr tie rod. I have a 94 q45t with hicas. I replaced all the damaged parts with new ones and reset the alignment.
My problem is when i make a left hand turn, especially at higher speed and long sweeping, the rr tire makes a groaning noise as if out of alignment, toe to be exact. This is verified by a pattern on the outside edge of the tire. the vehicle drives perfect in a straight line.
I did the visual exam on the rear tires in diagnostic mode and have verified that the rear tires turn left and right with the steering wheel. The power cylinder moves the tie rod a distance more than 2.5 mm either way of nuetral.
With the rear of the car sliding into the curb and bending the rr inner tie rod it is apparrent that the impact was great and the impact on the tie rod was to push on the power cylinder against the hydraulic pressure.
1. Is it possible that in a static test mode in the drive the rear wheels operate properly but at speed with a force on them the right rear power cylinder is not acheiving enough internal press. to turn? 2. I have tried to pulle codes from the hicas computer. The hicas light verifies all systerms working properly. 3. No problems with the left rear. 4. My infiniti manual has no info on hicas. My mitchels manual has a good wealth of info but no exploded view of parts, power cylinder namely. Does the power cylinder have a one piece rod inside that moves left and right connected to the inner tie rod on either side, or two peice that splits in the middle with individual valves? Is it possible that the sudden pressure increase on impact blew a seal and is causing internal press. loss within the power cylinder in one direction? Is it poss. that a left or right hicas solenoid is damaged mechanicly from the press. spike?
