Well, did a search, but didn't find what I was looking for. Anyway, I just bought a 94 Q and it's my first. It has 158K miles, but is in pretty good shape. Problem is the right front wheel tilts in at the top and the suspesion squeeks on that spot. The upper control arm bushings are shot. Anyway, I was gonna replace that and was thinking of doing some struts, but can't seem to find much info. I have seen people putting in the Tockico Blues, but at allinfinity.com, they list for $350ish a piece...is this right??? Maybe if it's for all four I can see...but geez that sounds rediculous if not. The car is a normal suspension car. Anyway, just need to see what everyone is doing strut wise.

Thanks

Derck

You should be able to get all 4 Blues for around $300. Call Joe for the upper links, about $100 each. Tell him you're from NICO. He may have the Blues too. Highly recommend replacing all rubber in there, including dust boots.1-888-216-5328--Dearship parts wholesaler, sponsors this site.

Thanks for the info. I'll give him a call tomorrow. Who is he affiliated with (Joe)? Also, when you say replace all the rubber, what all is included? Just the boots or are you talking about some other stuff as well?

Thanks

Definetely get the blues. They are stiffer, will last longer, will give better handling, and are cheaper.

Joe is with Infiniti of Scottsdale.

Do most replace the springs as well with some Eibachs are do most of you guys leave the stockers on? I'm looking at eventually going with a set of 17" rims (probaly ASAs) and would like things a little more sporting, but don't want a big degredation in ride quality.

Thanks again

Most here ride on stock, but some do Eibachs. Do a search to learn about what's involved.

I love the way the eibachs make the car ride.. If you can find them, then i say go for it. 300ZX eibachs will work.....

Yup...brought the car in from OK. Are there a lot of guys in Kansas? Unfortunately I'm gonna be moving in a couple of months. I'll see if I can find anything, but does anyone know if there is a before and after pic with someone with some Eibachs?

Look in AZhitmans portfolio in Member's rides. He has had both.

More important, I think, would be to ride two usch examples and research what Q45tech has to say if you are into dynamic function more than static looks.

True statement. Although I've had Eibachs on several previous vehicles with no ill affects. Plus, my car has almost 160K on it, so I figure the stockers are tired anyway. I'm still lookin (ie doing searches), but I'd like to put some 17s on it and don't want any fitment issues.

anybody know offhand how much the tokico blacks cost? my suspension r&r is not to far off, and i don't think these northeast roads and the blues will go so well together.

Joe told me the other day that front struts had tripled in price.

The Blues are not that stiff, and are the same as new blacks after 5K or so miles. Do what we do in TX and drive fast enough to just hit only the tops of the bumps.

When you use Eibachs on the rear expect that all shocks [blue or oem black] will wear [soften] much much much faster.........I usually replace my blues every 60,000 miles and 4 years..........they wear out and the rear starts to sway and undulate excessively. REAR replaced at 50k, 120k, 180k, 240k, now at 285k starting to notice the weaker control!

The Eibach fronts are only 15% stiffer [linearly] whereas the rears vary from minus -10% to 50% to almost 70% stiffer at 3" compression. If you hit bumps that compress the rear or carry 150 pounds in trunk OR 250 in THE REAR SEATS the wear will accelerate [way above what I indicated above] as I almost never have rear seat passengers or much weight in trunk.

No, they only doubled... from $119 apiece to $238!!! WTF

I just got back from a long trip, received my new STB from Jeff, and was going to replace the front struts now too. I like the OEM struts on front, no need to be so stiff. [ On 94-96'sthe OEM rears bounce way too much. ]

Looks like I'll try Tokicos all around now.

90-96Q oem rear shocks are identical, therefore all oem rear shocks are not stiff enough in rebound........even with oem 123 pound inch rear springs......same rate 90-96.

yikes! i guess my next question would be 'is there a source other than joe that might have a boatload of tokico blacks on hand' based on discussion above, i'd still prefer to go blacks fronts and blues rear. i wonder sometimes if bangladesh has smoother roads than my area? apologies in advance to lurking bangladeshis.

HowdyI'm also in PotHole/FrostHeave Land and I'm really glad I've got the Blues - I just think they're a better over-all choice. After our move this year she'll be mostly on deserted, beautiful, sweeping, nice and smooth, two-lane rural roads. FWIW, I'd go with da Blues. Also FWIW mine were from shox.com (and from before I discovered NICO).john

Luckily [price increase], I replaced the black oem front shocks 20,000 miles ago [last Summer].........therefore 2 more years at 325,000 miles [if she lasts that long].

Off track but, when we did KS/harness last Saturday, we did [Byron did] the fuel hoses and pulled the fuel rails out..........examining the injectors, other than some corrosion on the connectors [cleaned up and dielectric greased] all were intact with no cracks on the plastic tips after 15 years and 285,000 miles........they have never been pulled off. Cleanup all the lower runners [and plenum/TB].

285,000 miles is roughly 10,000 hours of running time [28.5 mph average?], 45,000 injections per hour [at 1500 rpm average]......think that is at least 450,000,000 cycles of injection........each injector passed at least 1,875 gallons of fuel. Probably more like 2,000 gallons

ALL ohmed at spec within 0.3 ohms of 12.3 average almost no variations......maybe the 75+ cans of BG44k or just good Southern gasoline.

I was ready with 4 brand new injectors, just in case, still have them decided to stick with originals..........out of respect.

Our newest tech [who bought the 92Q] now has rehabed it with Blues all around, a Stillen front brace, new tension rod inserts, new upper links, a 20mm rear sway bar, new transmission mount, and a take off drive shaft, 1st gear start, stc, etc......he bought the dead car [a rocker arm came off plus chain guides] for $500..............he can't get the Q from wife unless he tells her he's adding something new.......so he gets up early Sat and tells her he's taking it into the shop........but takes a long test drive first.
