Each amplifier module has its own special equalization [frequency response and gain]. Bose made over 43 different amplifiers [each with over 20 differing values of resistors and capacitors [plus a different EQ IC]---- they look the same physically.........function of interior space and materials and how that attenuated mid/high frequencies and the tuned port for bass boost.
The front ones are quite different from the rears [in that the smaller front speaker and tuned enclosure are less efficient than the 6x9 rear.
Can't go haphazardly switching thing around if you expect the as new flat frequency response.
They spent a lot of engineering time picking the correct equalization..............unfortunately many non audiophiles want distorted excessive bass.
Without an acousitic spectrum analyser or at least a broadband sound level meter [measure plot and graph method].......and a frequency test tone tape or cd]........each human ear response is different and changes with age and exposure to [[drugs oxycotin Rush, X, Ice, etc*]] and sound intensity and duration.
