Hey guys I am at time for spark plugs and wires I believe. Every now and then I have a slight miss maybe once or twice a week. I need to know which spark plugs and wires to get and where the best place to get them would be online.

Well, you don't have spark plug wires. You have no distributor...you have coilpacks that receive electric impulse, and there are 8 of them. They are known to be faulty in our cars. You'll have to test them with a multimeter, determine after swapping a few which is defective, and replace. Replacing all will cost over $1000.

Known issue with our cars, but fortunately one of the few (so far)....

Before you get all cromag with plugs and what not.....

Toss some good fresh fuel in that mother and some decent FI cleaner. Always works for me.

So why are the plugs so expensive. What is the best Fuel Injection cleaner to get?

$80-90 worth of plugs that last 100,000 miles is peanuts when it comes to maintaining a Q45{or ANY other car, come to think of it}

He said the plugs were $1000 dollars. So that means they are $125 dollars a piece. What kind of plugs do i need to get for this car?

He was referring to the coilpacks, the plugs cost about $6-10 each.

What spark plugs do I need to get. And where can I read more about the coil pack. I am sure these are not something I could pick up at Autozone, correct?

If you want to pay too much. Autozone will sell them to you.

RTFSM before you post again, please.

Then read the revioius posts before you do serious damage to your car out of ignorance.

Looks like we have some nice helpful people on this forum. Takes more time to reply with RTFM and read the form than to say spark plug xyz. I did try to read the forum but couldn't find the information quickly. However I won't waste your time anymore and won't be back. Thanks for all your help.

If you willingly ignore even the basic information the manufacturer supplies you, there is not much we can do for you. Kindergarten is over.

Sorry for the less than helpful responses you have received. There has been a long running debate on how much help should be given to new members on questions that have been asked and answered over and over again, but hopefully this will get you pointed in the right direction.

RTFSM is Brian's abbreviation for "Read the Factory Service Manual" which can be found here...

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

The owner's manaul that came with the car should also specify the correct NGK platinum plug. If you don't have it, you can download it free of charge at Nissan's tech. info site.

Most members agree that the best parts supplier is Infiniti of Scottsdale at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com

"F" is for Factory??

Yes Shadow98 this forum does indeed eat it's young....Manicsx in particular.

These cars can be picky b****es, particularly with regard to maintenance. However once running nicely they are fantastic.

I encourage you to not be in such a rush to change the plugs until you determine them to be either the problem, or a distinct possibility due to their age. Hence my earlier post regarding crummy fuel. On my car, the occasional stumble is always cleared up by some miracle jizz in the tank and some spirited Emmo style driving. In general, spark plugs will last at least 60K...mine were just changed the first time at 120K. They looked fine when changed, but at 120K it was past time. True they are fairly expensive as compared to Autozone Champions, but they are high-quality plugs that pretty much last forever. So, you really do get what you pay for in this instance.

Your comment about needing wires is what brought out the fangs. These mothers have no distributor as was pointed out earlier. It's considered good form here to have a bit of knowledge before you grab the tools so this was your faux pas. A minor one in my opinion and not worthy of all the bile, but major to others.....well to Manicsx anyway. Don't give up just yet as there is a ton of useful info here about the care and feeding of your Q41. And there are some knowledgeable dudes here who will give you useful info minus the vitriol.

The source for the spark is a coil pack. Google that for grins. They are hideously expensive, but also last a long time and are fairly maintenance free. Mine have 150K on them. So, don't be in rush to change them either.

There are links all over this forum to download a free service manual, as well as the glove box owners manual. My car came with neither, and I was greeted in similar fashion when I inquired about them. I was lucky enough to be steered in the right direction early on. And being a malcontent I was eager to spit back when assailed for my lack of Qsmarts. Most of us had to learn this sometime. Only a few were born with it.

Stick around and embrace the hostility. Learn a bit about your ride and toss those grenades right back. It's fun and somewhat theraputic to question authority and arrogance from the comfort of your keyboard. Pull up a beer and get your education on.

My recommendation is Techron, and I think most of the others will agree.

As for plugs, stick with the factory recommended NGKs PFR5G-11. They're long proven to give the best results.

Please don't give up on the forum yet. While some of our members are determinedly tactless, there is a lot of good info to be had, and we have a lot of friendly members, too. Maxnix' poorly delivered point is that there's a lot you can learn if you spend some time reading older posts and the immensely beneficial service manual...including some good discussions on which plugs to use based on climate (i.e. changing to different than stock plug temperature).

I think a lot of our members forget that we all started somewhere. Perhaps instead of glaring at those without expert knowledge, we should give them respect for seeking that knowledge. It's more than most car owners would be bothered with.

Thanks for all the help. I did do a search for the what I needed to do about the spark plugs but with the way the search is setup only allowed to be search the whole forum. In most forums I am able to search just the specific forum for say the Q45. Well I got back tons of info when I searched for spark plugs with the google search but was overwhelmed and decided it might be easier to ask. I definately knew this question had already been answered somewhere.

The thing I have never understood is why people take more time to write a nasty response and act like they are the all knowing than to answer the original question or just skip it and move on. I mean it would be easier for them to read the post and say ah another newbie moron and move on to another interesting topic. Leaving them to squander hoping for a response or force them into doing a deeper search for the forum.

However I am glad to see others here do care and are willing to help out. I know the rules of forums search first and ask questions later...lol

Thanks all..

I have 125k miles on the car.

That is the part number for InfinitiPartsUSA. As of today, they're selling them for $8.25 each, with shipping ranging from $8 to $10, depending on location.

NGK makes a wonderful spark plug and are used in most Japanese engines. My 1990 Honda Civic Si ran the best with NGK plugs in her.

I used to tell my high school girlfriend something very similar... ohhh! Sorry, couldn't resist.
