So I've lurked for quit awhile now and finally decided to make a post lol. Anyway a good friend of mine has a 94 q with a recently rebuilt motor only problem is it's stuck in 3rd gear. Ive read and this seems like a pretty easy fix if its a sensor but a junkyard in my area has plenty of q for the pickin. so my question is would the car be worth 600. Im going to take pics of it next week just thought I'd ask. thanks

A 94-96 for $600 is a very good deal. Even if you can't get the transmission fixed you can part it out and easily get your money back plus more.

What is the condition of the car other then transmission? Figure the worst case senario on the transmission, that it is gone, don't think easy fix, although the 94' has transmission issues resolved it could still be history and I would just bank on it begining history. So if the rest of the car is good shape, than this is a good deal. You should shop around local places for a new/rebuilt transmission. I do['t know where Orangevale is in CA, but i know in LA you can find a rebuilt transmission pretty cheap (like 2k installed probably).

If you anywhere near the LA Metro area I have a good place you can tow the car to and find out the good and bad (Z-Expert in Venice CA). Richard is the owner, he doesn't do auto-transmission work but he's got a very relaible guy he uses and can source the parts and check out the rest of the car. If it is an easy fix he'd know it quickly.

WELCOME to NICO!

Absolutely the right advice from Goody90q45 and BadQ45t for sure.

Are you planning for the Q to be a daily driver or a part-time hobby/project car?

It will probably be my daily. The body is super nice and the only other thing I know that is wrong with it is the cracked front seats. They're super beat up man. Hopefully I'll get out there soon and get some pics.
