The answer is Yes and no.
The engines are both VH45DE's and physically it fits perfect.
But the CAS, cooling system, ECU, TCU, and a number of otehr sensors and periopherals are different.
I am sure it can be done (we have a member who put a 94 engine into a 92 I believe) but it ionvolves a bit of a hssle to say the least and you will have to purchse some additonal parts (none of which cheap).
One thing I might add, its a bit unusual to ask to put a 90 engine into a 94 car most often the question is the other way around. There is a shortage of 90-93 engiens due to them self destructing if the cam guides havent been done yet (even tho otherwise they are among the very best engines in the world)
As a result 94-95 engines are actually cheaper to buy.
So most questions we get on this are "can I fit the 94/95 engine into a 90-93 Q?".
Unless you are getting your cheap 90 engine from an actual friend or club member here, I would be very suspicious of its quality.
Very very few 90-93 engines on the market that are less than 2-2.5k are any good.I have once paid over 3.5k for a sludgy engine w/o the guides done!
If you go thru the work+expense of putting a 90 engine into a 94 be sure it has the guides done and is a good clean engine with good compression. And you should be getting it virtually free for the economics to make sense compared to just buying a 94 engine.Cuz a 94 engine doesnt need new guides, is cheaper to buy used, you will have a greater slection to choose a good one from and the labor would be much less and require less expensive aditional parts.
