I looked through the subj. of several Qs and haven't seen any record about transmission flash. Does this type of record never get into the history because it's just a part of regular 15K service?

Oh it should be in there IF the dealer did it.

hm... there were records like "30K/60K/90K service done" but no transmission flush mentioned. Do you think careless owners may have asked to skip this work?

interesting. mine mentions the XK services, but then under them it lists all the actions performed and notes about each service.

91Q , 127Kmi.I never had the transmission flushed , but change fluid + filter( screen?) every 20Kmi. by the dealer . This costs about $135 .Do I need to flush also ? I do remember them asking me about it once .

My service history doesn't list the specific procedures of my services on the 30/60k services, etc. I would recommend getting your transmission flushed every 20k for cars over 100k. My transmission went out at 160k for 2 reasons: 1. no flushes performed and 2. no transmission cooler. My second transmission was a used w/ 85k on it and it went to 165k before it went out and that was for the reason that the previous owner did not have flushes performed. Now I get one once a year which is roughly every 20k.

Each dealer decides what a 15/30/60K service includes. Some may include transmission flush, some may not. That's why some dealers charge $800 for a 60K service and some charge $1400.

I think most dealers list it as a separate item.

The transmission flush isn't always recommended by the dealer, some even discourage it. They last well enough with the pan drop and filter replacement to get them out of warranty and then it's time to sell you a new one! The transmission fluid exchange is a relatively new process if I'm not completely mistaken...

A pan drop/ filter change is not the same as a flush. The pan drop only drains a few quarts - the flush exchanges 10-14 quarts. Lots of fluid is held up in the torque convertor and other transmission components, so you really can't get it all out without having it running!
