Please don't crucify me about killing acceleration etc etc. Straight forward question, just looking for an answer. I have a 1993 nissan 240sx, I only drive it in fair weather and on road trips. Just bored while making some upgrades and tossing around the idea in my head of swapping out the ring and pinion for something a little taller i.e. lower my rpm's on highway. Cruising through Colorado, Tennessee, Florida etc at 85mph rpm's are a little high for my taste. My S13 is for everyday driving, its not setup/worthy of drag racing, drifting, autocrossing etc so i'm not worried about killing performance or it feeling like it has half the HP. Please let me know if anybody knows if you can swap out the ring and pinion out of another R200 diff. Thanks.

Yes you can. I have 4.08 gears with a q45 vlsd so opposite will work just fine. Id recommend using the q45 housing because the pinion will already be shimmed to already be in that housing.

If you use the vlsd from the q45 you have to use one ds q45 axle and one z32tt axle. Unless you get the newer q45,.than you would need j30 axles. If you swap your open end guts, you then can use the stock output shafts and axles but then all that work and no vlsd? :-(

so if i use the guts from a q45 non vlsd, then I can use my stock output shafts and axels.

No, you would have to use the guts from you're stock diff. There is no such thing as a q45 non vlsd.
