To everyone who answered my 12,000 1991 New Q45 owner questions, thanks!!!!!

One further question...the car has these gold Fittipaldi wheels on it. I HATE the gold color and worse, they're not in great shape. Is there any inexpensive way to sandblast the gold stuff off or use some type of oxident? They're a nice basket weave design and I'd like to see them stay on the vehicle if possilbe.

Again, thanks for all the help, this site rules!!!

Bruce, Don't know the answer to your question, but I must say I am no fan of the "gold package". I do have a set of original "pie pan" wheels" that I would like to get rid of. If anyone is interested I will dig them out and look them over, but I think they were real nice. I'm in N CA. Alan

ps. it is fantastic how much help and info the Infiniti experts on this forum provide

Bruce - I'd call around and find a shop that will powder-coat them. Perhaps, depending on the color of your car, you could have them done in the body color (very COOL on a 1st-gen Q IMO). Or, just have them powder-coated silver or light grey.

Powdercoat is a very durable painting process that'll probably outlive the car.

I just took a closer look at my wheels...one of them is entirely bent so I'll definitely look forward to knowing more about your replacement wheels Mr. Alan!

Don't worry almost every wheel [of every type] used more than 6 years [100k] is bent out of specification and contributes to the feeling of excessive vibration.........a 4300 pound car is rough on wheels if driven on typical roads.

The factory specs are so tight that very few aftermarket wheels meet them brand new much less when driven on!

Can anyone publish these factory specifications for G50 Q45 Wheels? I'll bet they are in the Shop Manual Joe can't get me yet.

Both lateral and radial runout must be less than 0.012".The wheel by itself [no tire mounted] must balance with less than 15 grams total of inside and outside weights.....say 5 inside and 10 outside.

Lots of these things are spelled out better in the Technical Service Bulletins especially the 1994 ones].

In all cases there are footnotes which say that for minimal vibration the specs should be tighter say 2/3 of maximum.

Thank you Dennis. Are these TSBs available through all data, or only Nissan?

I would be curious what the actual load bearing requirement is, and if it can be realted to any other standards, like the TUV.
