Q45 Rear Speaker Installation

Hi Everyone,

A local shop rebuilt the 3 bad speakers I had (1 front, 2 rear) after being out of the car for a long time. So long, I forgot where the oval plastic ring goes for the rear speakers. It would seem a no-brainer that they rest on top of the speaker but the rear deck cover doesn't want to lie flat. The rings are padded on one side. Should the padded side go face down against the speaker or face the top, against the grill cover? The rebuild wasn't cheap...around $100 for each speaker (new cones and rebuilt amps).

Against the grill cover, I believe. Just removed mine completely last Saturday. Had to take out the rear seat lower and back cushion and the package shelf to get to them. Not hard but time consuming. I can see why Infiniti charges so much for this service. At tech rates around here (SF Bay area) of $120/hour it really makes more sense to diy.
