i used 2 pry bars across from each other , it popped right out. and i never saw mention of the shimms in the old housing remember where they go. on one side you have 2 shimms one is thick and one is thin. put them back exactly how they came out. i am assumming you are gonna put the internals back in your houseing. and for the record the car isnt nearly as fun to drive with a stock KA after the swap, rear end doesnt get loose as easy or at all.

If you're beating them out I found a little trick that protects the threads on the axle. Leave the axle nut on the axle, not tight obviously, just thread it on the end so that the end of the axle is almost flush with the nut. Then you can go to town on it without worrying about trashing the threads. It also gives you a larger surface area to hit with the mallet. I damaged the threads on one of my axles trying to beat it out with a rubber mallet, almost couldn't get the axle nut back on. Yay.
