VLSD is standard on every Q45 including 97-01.

yep the diff is basically identical to a N/A Z32 4.08 except the Y33 Q45 diff is 3.69 ...

Does that apply to the 94 Q45 as well?

What Torque will this (94) diff handle?

Thanks in advance.

I heard it was 3.54, which one it 3.54?

And how much power will this diff hold?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive 2002 up use electronic Traction Control and have open diffs.

I was considering changing my '05 Q45 to VLSD, but am concerned that the LS diff might conflict with the Traction Control and Stability Control systems. The existing diff at 24K miles had a whine, and at 30K, it's getting slightly more noticeable. I think it will be replaced under warranty, and would like to have them replace the existing diff with a VLSD, so it wouldn't actually cost me anything except maybe a small difference in parts cost. But the potential conflict has me worried.

Has anyone done this with a 2002 up?

You are correct. Don't know of any VLSD which have the later lower numerical ratios.

90-96 use 3.54 VLSD with 6 evenly spaced bolts for the output flange.

97-01 use 3.69 VLSD with 5 evenly spaced.

The 90-96 uses a goofy diff, which is like a mix between the R200 and R230.. it still has the 200mm ring gear however it has the "beef" of an R230. With that said, whatever Z guys are throwing at their R230s should be fine for the G50 diff...

The 97-01 uses a seemingly identical diff to the Z32 N/A diff, which has limited power handling capabilities...

So far, I'm the only person that has done a VLSD into the F50 chassis. I have spent hours going thru the F50 and Y34 service manuals and none of them have the VLSD in it whereas the Z33/V35 do list it.

So a VLSD diff from an earlier model (G50 or Y33) won't fit in an F50?

The housing won't fit as I tried. I ended up using the VLSD unit taken out of the automatic G35 and installed it into the F50 housing. I first tried with the G35 manual transmission VLSD, but there a difference that prevents it from going in.
