Anyone have a radiator that will fit a 90Q? I don't know if other years will work.

I tried to get a really nice Modine replacement for my 91. I had it on the floor next to the OE & noticed there's a bung for a temp sensor on the driver's side inner on my stock radiator.

The Modine had a boss for a bung, but it was not tapped nor did it have a brass insert to attach the sensor.

When I called Modine, they had revised the application for either 92-96 or 93-96. I was a really nice piece though. I use them whenever I can if the app doesn't require a Be Cool or the like.

So, I ended up with a CSI or C&S or CSE, or something like that. It was available from Modine & much cheaper, but had the bung installed.

It's been working fine, I would have preferred OE, but they were unavailable on quick notice.

Well Nat I understand how you feel. You love your car and then something happens that just drains your energy. But when something happens often then it becomes intolerable. Put me first in line on 90 parts if you decide to part it out even though I dont really think you should, but I dont understand you particular since I dont know any specifics.

By the way how is the Benz doing?

wes-- i'll do 50 plus shipping if the numbers work..

pito--sadly...in a way..the benz is doing great.... I was able to change a steering damper.... and the transmission fluid and filter this weekend.... I had a 72 Benz for a long time years ago... I am not afraid to get under the car...

The Benz easy to work on.... but doesn't have the ride or panache' of a Q...time is just running short... This week I will buy an oil extractor...to do my own oil changes......

Trying to keep the 90 going.... still considering Q options.... not much available...

Should I part the 90....it's going to be quick and cheap..... the idea will be to move parts...everyone will want backups.....I want to get 1k out of it...that shouldn't take much.....

Beware of rapidly increasing repair parts costs for MBZ. I've been driving used S class for 20 years and have seen 300-500% increase in lots of parts in last year. Myobesrvations were confirmed by long tie friend who runs the parts operation. He says its crazy--like they (MBZ) are trying to force all the older cars off the roads. Some critical parts have gone from $200 to $3000!!!

there are so many 300e's on the road..the aftermarket is very strong.

I am finding parts at such a reasonable cost... plus many components have been replaced.... (like electrical relays, A/C system....

jeez..you can get an oem radiator for 120 dollars....

Keep in mind this is not an S class... I drove one of them...and parts can be very expensive.

So MB may be trying to force cars off the road...but the capitalist system is alive and well...

It's a device that pumps oil out from the pan....you put the hose down the dipstick and suck it out...

the 300e has a top mounted oil filter...so you unscrew it..put on a new one...and suck the oil out...

Mercedes were designed this way, BMW's too I think....

If Wes's doesn't fit, I've got one from a 92 that should fit.

I have to check the parts numbers again.....

For some reason I think the 90 has its own part number.....that doesn't mean others won't fit....I guess I should call Joe and see if 90-94 are interchangeable....

I have been too busy to pull the radiator and maybe take a pic of it...and see if it matches everyones...

Just another reason to dislike German cars...you can't even just pull the plug to change the oil

dr q--- my parts numbering system doesn't show a match for 90's and 92's ..

I'll have to call Joe or pull mine this weekend.

Danny--- you can pull the plug...the belly pan isn't even in the way...but with a top mounted oil filter this makes sense....

Man..I've owned nothing but q's and mercedes for the last 18 years....they are different animals....both very interesting cars....

According to car-part.com, the 90 and 91s interchange while the 92s are a one year only. But I'll see if the 92 radiator will fit in my 91 just for fun.

After comparing the two, I am certain the 92 will drop right in the 91a. All the mounts and connections are in the same place. The only difference between the two is that the one in my 91a(which was brand new when I bought the car, aftermarket I think) is 1 1/4" thick(accross the top) while the one from my 92 is 1" thick. The 92 is a Calsonic 4Y-P(OEM?). If you want it, I'd sell it for $60 including shipping. Thanks.

I don't know if that is correct.

When I replaced my radiator, the New one had two additional fittings on it(one in, one out, I assume), compared to the original. I have no idea what they are for, so I just put duct tape over them (To prevent dirt and other stuff from getting inside).

Anybody else notice that there were extra fittings on their new radiator when they/you put it in?

Did it have ATF fittings on both sides? I don't believe what I gathered from car-part.com because I can drop the 92 right inside my 91 if I want.

Two of the fittings, one in, onee out, were for ATF. I hooked everything up the same way that it was on the OEM radiator.

But I still had two fittings left. Any idea what they are?

Without seeing it, I couldn't tell you. But it sounds like you have an invitation to cool another fluid of your choosing.

On some later ones there were dual trnany coolers in there..... One in/out on top and one in/out on the bottom

Some Q if they repalced the transmission they replaced this, with a 94 spec radiator/transmission "cooler"
