The power steering on my 1990 Q45 is acting up. Sometimes it works fine. Other times, it resists and drags as if it isnt' working. It's been flushed and refilled with Mobil 1, steering boots are intact.

On infinitiownersclub on yahoo, someone suggested replacing a control computer somewhere in the steerring column area. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the cure?

Hmm... Seem to recall a post about a pinched wire in the steering rack that affected the speed sensitive steering. Anyone else?

Q1 started doing this last year... I have the only documented failure of this part that I know of - but in my case the u-joint that connects the steering column to the rack was seized. Apparently (being within a few inches of the precat) it would heat up just enough to behave more normally after several minutes of driving.

It's easy to check... just loosen the two screws, slide it up on the steering column shaft and remove.
