Finally putting the Q back together after injector replacement. Getting this hose off at first was a pain in the a**, I ended up just cutting it and buying a new hose, as was recommended here. Now, I am putting it back together and along with juggling which hoses to put on first while I set the plenum in place, I have no idea how to get this one seated properly. I got the hose attached to the bottom connector behind the engine, but can't get a proper grip on the hose to slide the plenum in.

This is probably just one of those things I gotta work at until I get it, but knowing that many people have done this before I'd like any tips people have for this whole re-assembly, especially this hose. Thanks!

I got it... little bit of brute force, ingenuity, and astroglide.

You found the right combination of tools for reattaching the hose. It's the only difficult part of reassembling the plenum. Personal lubricants are your friend for this type of thing. I prefer Vaseline since it's petroleum-based.

I had an argument with myself over what type of lubricant to use. I was going to use Vaseline but in the end thought a water based lube would be better. Shouldn't be an issue. I hope to have it running in a couple hours

One last thing to assemble, something I have overlooked completely and can't find a good diagram of in the FSM...

Does this vacuum hose (that I haven't cut down to size yet):

connect to this inlet

Cause if not...

Note this is the driver side rear of the engine, right next to the EGR valve (not pictured)

OK that line does not go there. It is something else, that I figured out. However, that hose, coming from under the plenum, I can't find it's mate!

It is a line coming from the Fuel Pressure Regulator, and the FSM says that line runs to the intake manifold. On the intake manifold, from everything I can see, there are no open lines. .......

Actually the FPR (not to be confused with the damper) hooks to that clusterf..... of metal tubes that fits under the #7 leg of the plenum. Then a few inches later, that metal tube fits to another rubber hose that goes to the small vacuum port near the #7 leg of the plenum and BPT valve - just beside the larger black elbow coming in your picture.

That cluster of metal tubes can be seein in the '94 FSM on EM-6 just to the left of the throttle body in the parts explosion.

Awesome. Found it, hidden behind the other valve from the angle I was looking at.

And now for further proof that I should not work on any engine but KA's: I got the thing all put back together after putting it off for a long time, cranked her, and smelled gas. I am leaking, from what I can see, from the #7 injector, which is one I replaced. I am hoping the other one is not leaking, because I BELIEVE I can pull the #7 injector out without taking the plenum off again. I wish I had a way of testing this before I put it all back together...

Anyways, what's causing this? The injector is in there, should be in there, snug... does it just need pushed in harder or what? This is the most ridiculous engine, I just want it to run beautifully.

That's no good...

The injector has two o-rings. If the lower leaks fuel pours from around injector into the lower intake runner and floods the engine - you can hydrolock it in seconds! If the upper leaks it just sprays gas into the engine bay. So you're lucky.

Sounds like you have a pinched upper o-ring. Time to pull the injector, replace the o-rings, and reinstall. The key is to lubricate the o-rings and rail with motor oil so that they'll seat properly.

Alright. I don't need to get the o-rings from Infiniti do I? Ouch

Yea, we'll see

I got a new project.

I am hoping that only the o-ring on that #7 is bad because if #5 is bad too then ... having just put the plenum all back together, I suppose I could do it in a day, but really... my poor knuckles.

Thanks for everyones help. Expect to see more of me tomorrow

Swear words.

There is a hose blocking one of the screws on the 7th injector, I have to remove the plenum again.

Believe it or not, dealing with the "damn spider" gets easier the second, third, and fourth times.

Much truth to that. I got the plenum off in 10 minutes flat the second time. Got in there, pulled my injectors out and....

I don't even want to say. Let's just say that I should finish this up, put down the wrench, and never work on cars again.

.......missing o-rings.
