I'm getting a P1140 code. I replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor bank 1, but the code came back during test drive.Checked and clean the Intake Valve Timing sensor. It seems to be fine in good condition. Can somebody please help.

Hi and Welcome to NICO Club!

I'm sorry you have a code that won't go away. You should probably take a look at the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your car and this code. It has a few pages of diagnoses and repair for code P1140 in the EC chapter starting at page EC-473. Here is a link...

It seems that in diagnoses, if you were to find you have to replace things, they would be in this order - fix wires, replace Intake Valve timing control position sensor, replace crankshaft position sensor, replace camshaft position sensor, clean camshaft sprocket at signal pickup area. So, you are in the right area, maybe skipping over a few steps.

Try the FSM in the link and let us know how it goes. Good luck with this project and enjoy your membership here. You have a couple of cool cars. :)

Thanks for your quick response and reference to the FSM page EC-473. I now have a better understanding of the problem.

OP, welcome aboard. I'm glad you're making good progress on understanding your problem and the FSM.

I noticed in the first post you mentioned replacing the camshaft sensor, yet it's a code to do with the intake adjustment. Unfortunately these engines can be a little tricky as to what is/should be called what sensor.

Here's a link to supplement your reading and also prevent mixup once you start dealing with sensors in that area: topic607101.html#p6691736
