We had a Q45 meet for Sacramento area NICO members this evening. An atttempt was made to break the NICO modern day record for most G50 Q45's together in one place. Due to a couple of last minute cancellations I think we only tied the record (3). Wes- What's your ruling?
Our meet was held in Folsom, CA at Lake Natomas which holds the water for the lower American River. The lake is known as the site of numerous Pac 10 and NCAA championship rowing meets. It's a really nice lake with clean water that's been set up for families and picnicing and swimming but the water is frigid cold (from the bottom of Folsom Lake) so it doesn't get much use. We had the place to ourselves. A few pics below.
For you guys in Canada- Come take back your honkers. They're great to see flying overhead but when they land, eat and poop it's a different story. Ever since the State Park Service planted this lawn they haven't left (3 years). Lots of land mines. Call 'em home please.
At the meet were Scott (PDQWRX) who drove 60 miles from Stockton in his 91 240SX. His 94Q was in the shop being painted or we would have set the record. Next time. Also Andy (MXR662) with his 90Q with 70k miles. A really nice Q, it'll be in a car museum someday. Ben (YoungQ45) followed the river down from Lotus and brought his 91Q that he and his dad and brother have brought back from the dead. His Q's got a lot of potential. And rounding out the group was my 94Q. I live 5 minutes from the lake and it was my first day of vacation today so I got to spend some time this morning prettying her up.
For the record book. Three G50's in the same place. You can see Andy in the background sitting with Ben's dad reviewing the Consult data on his laptop. Andy was able to narrow down Ben's miss to cylinder #1. Hopefully it's just a bad injector and fouled plug.
It was a good meet and we swapped stories and ideas for a couple of hours. We'll have to try it again in the fall when it cools off. I know there were a few more NICO guys that wanted to come but just couldn't make it today. Thanks to everyone that made it. Hope you all had a good time.
