minor modification being a retuned ecu.

You can tune it with a SAFCII changing the hotwire settings for different MAFs. Nick

what are you trying to acheive by doing this?

I don't understand it either, unless you are going turbo and maxing out the MAF.

some guys use z32 mafs, but that is usually with SC applications.The TB is much more restrictive than the MAF on the vq30

so no power gains would be seen from having this done the reason i ask about this is i have a Q45 mass airflow sensor just sitting around and wanted to know if i could put it to use

Flow limitation would still be the TB, no?

edit: I assume the reasoning is the Q45 sensor is larger and could flow more air than the stocker...

No, a Q45 MAF won't do anything for you in your situation besides make your car run really bad.
