Hello all, I am an avid 240sx enthusiast but I have been looking into getting a '99 or so Q45 (y33? not to sure on chassis code, sorry for the noob-ness). I have done all the work on my s13 and love the car to death but the unreliablity has made me think about getting another car...seeing that I am still in school, I was thinking a Q45 would be a good car, possibly make it a VIP car with JIC coilovers, Cima grill, a small aero kit (maybe) and some 18x9 Fabulous wheels.

Well on with the point:I love the look of the Q45 and the almost 300hp V8 isnt a bad power plant to start with, but I just cant stand that it is automatic. I searched and found that alot use the z32 transmission but with no acutal documentation that t he swap has been sucessful. So far, I have come to the conclusion that I will have to use the z32 transmission with an adapter plate to the VH45 block...then I am not sure what else to do.....Was the Cima or President offered in a manual transmission option? What are my options as far as m/t swaps? and what exactly is involved in doing one on the Q45 chassis?

Sorry if it has been covered before, thanks in advance!

search noob!!!

just kidding, but no one has done a MT swap in a Q with the stock motor. Closest ive heard was the guy (midnightsliding) that put in a RB25 into a Q with the MT...

Its not a feasible option.. Trust me. if you want an MT in a sedan with a V8, get a BMW 540.

well that not good to hear! haha

So no VH came in manual? It seems if I was to get clutch pedal and master cyliner and then somehow reprogram the ecu (dont know how the hell i would go about doing that) it could work.....

Well ok then, if I cant do the m/t swap, what are my options with the a/t?

ive never heard of a CONFIRMED MT in a Q. Ive heard rumors but thats all they are. I have no hard evidence, and until i have hard evidence im not going to believe it.... Friend of a friend doesnt work.

its gonna be a lot harder with OBDII to make it work electronically. And electronics are only about 5% of the battle!

High performance rebuild like Level 10, Nissan remanufactured one, or mechanical fluid exchange and conservation fo current one, including installing an ATF cooler.
