Hey, so I have purchased a 1996 q45, and have had some issues in regards to the car stalling at idle, which I believe I can attribute to the MAF. I have MAF part number 22680 61u01. The first problem is the top of the MAF housing is cracked. I have covered that with duct tape as a temporary fix. the next problem I am finding is with the harness. It has a 4 prong harnesss, yet it only has 3 wires. I have been looking for diagrams and pictures, but for this particular part number I have been able to find nothing. Is it supposed to have 3 wires, or am I missing a wire?

Welcome to NICO. Where are you located? I picked up a spare MAF at a salvage yard for my 91 Q. Also, I keep spare MAFs for my DSC4s (e.g. Maxima and I30) that I picked up a a local salvage yard. I test the salvage yard MAFs as soon as I get them home as they come with a warranty. Usually you can get a MAF at PickandPull for under $40 -- with warranty at PUllaPart for under $30.

The connector for the '96 is different from the prior years... just so you know if you're looking for a replacement...

How can I test a MAF aside from tapping on it. My ECU is throwing a MAF and KS code but it actually passes a tap test

try taking it off and cleaning it with maf cleaner first before replacing it. if that doesnt work try ebay to get a used or after market one.

I have a Z32 MAF on mine. K Values and plug are identical and the Z32 are easier to come by.

MAF/AFMs are tested just by reading the voltage coming out of them. There will be a specific range it should be in at idle, at 4k rpm at redline etc.
RB25s throw a code for MAF if it's out of range or if its got a disconnect/short somewhere etc.
