Couldn't find alot on this, Maybe used the wrong keywords, but here are y questions:

1) I am planning on running 450 minimum whp. Is this the correct MAF to use?

2) If so, how do I change the wiring to use it with my 25 ECU? Actually it's a Power FC but still using the factory harness. Can somone direct me to the info on this at least.

I just did a quick google search for "q45 maf" and found this:

I know I wired mine with only the information on racebread. Also, its easy to figure out pins are the same across the two MAFs with a voltmeter.

Once it's wired, you just go into your PowerFC and change it to VH45.

Looks like I'm running the wrong MAF!! Oh no!! LOL

My car runs very well with it. So I'd say run it if you got it. Especially with a PowerFC as its as easy wiring it and changing a check box.

I even run mine as blow through and it runs great.

it does work, but since he said "minimum of 450 hp" that is right around where the q45 maxes out. z32, although smaller in diameter has more resolution.

OK, I am running a 100mm tb. Wont the Z32 choke it off? Can I swap the sensor part of the Z32 into the bigger Q45 housing? How about wiring for the Z32 to RB25?

The wiring is the same general concept. Look up the MAF thread that describes the wiring for each different MAF and then wire your RB25 harness to it accordingly. (signal wires, ground wires, power wires, etc.)

cdorhout - about how much hp are you running and what is the peak mV reading on your MAF? I bet you're up towards 450 and still not maxing it out.

Here's the link to the maf descriptions for wiring:http://paulr33.skylinesaustral....html

i still dont understand how the q45 reads less air than the z32...i really should get my hands on one and a z32, and a leaf blower and see how much each can read at the same flowrate...well atleast the voltage at that rate.

I keep maxing my Z32 out so I cut the sensor out and relocated after the intercooler in a 80mm piping. I am maxing that now. So time to put it in a 100mm pipe and try it. After that then I guess I have to change computers. Maybe a 26 PFC D-Jetro or better. The Z32 reads high resolution then the Q45.

But higher resolution does not mean higher max air flow, right? Where are you guys getting the info that the Z32 reads higher airflow than the Q45? I was under the impression that it was the opposite way around, higher res for the Z32 but higher max airflow with the Q45.

that is a myth. z32 can meter more air.

If you move the z32 to a bigger housing, like 3.5" or 4", then yes it will probably be able to meter "even more" air but how are you going to develop your airflow curve?

there are some posts on freshalloy where someone actually tried out both MAFs instead of just theorizing about it (can you believe that?!) and maxed the Q45 earlier.

if you want some numbers, look at your PFC tables for the MAFs. you'll see that the curve sits lower in the voltage vs. airflow table.
