Hey,

My sr20 has a lot of power being held back by my stock maf. I was wondering which one is better z32 or q45 maf. I heard that the q45 is 90mm, advantage their? please someone reply asap. Also if anyone could compare and contrast which is better?

Thanks

What kind of setup are you running? The z32 is good for 500+ horsepower if I remember correctly. If you aren't running more than that the z32 will do you just fine.

If you plan to keep later power output down you can go with a Q45 MAF but keep in mind that the larger the MAF typically the more inaccuracy you have between the reading and the actual airflow. I'd just go with a Z32 unit as those are rated for flowing 300 - 400rwhp easily on Z32's.

I just finished buliding the bottom end with wiseco 86.5 forged pistons and eagle rods. Im running a full t3 turbo with common upgrades (3 inch exhaust, front mount intercooler etc.) I still have stock fuel system though which im planning on upgrading to 550cc injectors, nismo fpr, and walbro fuel pump. I am also running the full emanage system for tuning. Im looking for like 350 hp. My friends q45 got wreked and is going to the junkyard and I still have a stock maf. I heard you can use the q45 or the z32 maf. He is giving me the maf for 50 bucks, id rather pay that then 200 for a z32. But i come here for a lot of questions on stuff like this so I just wanted your guys help.

If you can get the q45 for cheap grab that. You'll just have to find thr proper way to wire it in. If you can't get it working properly i'm sure you can turnaround and sell it for more than you paid, probably enough to cover the cost of a z32.

What if you are running more than 500hp, like 6-700hp, what would be your next option for the maf sensor or would the z32 be sufficient?

If you are pulling those kind of numbers you'd most likely be running a MAP with some sort of standalone management.

As Robby said, people at this point run MAP's instead of MAF's, but you could always use a re-tuned ECU to run two Z32 MAF's like JWT does for the Z's, and a number of other companies in Japan for the GTR's.

Gimme a call when you are looking to upgrade your injectors... SPL has the best pricing on the injectors from what I know.
