ive done months of research, and this is what ive come up with, as far as the perfect compressor:

the only problem is finding a place to mount it underhood.

p.s. : i think it will bolt right up to the stock manifolds.

the chicken wire is a preventative measure, so poultry (and small children) dont get stuck in the intake at high speeds.

Imagine the boost!

If you relocate the battery to the trunk, It will fit like a glove!

Installation materials:

3 Rolls 200 MPH duct tape 200' nylon string 3 hose clamps (industrial strength) 5' dryer vent Instructions:

1. Cut small hole in hood, then lower turbo with 200 ton crane.2. Secure with duct tape and nylon string.3. Attach dryer vent to intake plenum, and exhaust pipe, and tighten hose clamps.4. Adjust boost for optimal performance.5. Sell kit on eBay

By the way, that looks like a centrifugal compressor, for a water chiller. Possible Carrier design.

Swifty, I think there still might be the problem of the power steering unit getting in the way again. Damn our left hand drive models!!!!

BTW, how much turbo lag might that unit have?

The best thing about that design, is the impellers have infinite adjustment with inlet guide vanes. In reality, the lag is very minimal. You can't see it from his picture, but you can mount an old Hurst shifter on the dash, and link it to the vanes, for adjustment on the fly.

Although above 18,000 RPM, the impellers get a little unstable. It definitely could use an underdrive pulley. I bet it is murder on those serpentine belts.

thanks for the install advice everyone! ill be selling the kit as soon as i get back the dyno numbers, which wont be publicly available...

yeah, you guys, mike is right, i think we've again been defeated by the location of the PS hardware on the LHD models...

new plan: install roof rack, bungee the compressor to the roof rack, and then run the piping up and down along the A-pillars.

in this form, she'll surely be a sleeper...

Hey, here's an idea, I've still got an old Civic HB. I could mount the Turbo in the hatch of the Civic, run the pipes up to the Q and get all the boost while maintaining the F/R weight balance. Gotta figure after stripping the unnecessary parts of the Civic (everything) the weight gain will more than be offset by the thousands of HP gained during max boost.

Just think it wouldn't look too unusual, aren't Honda's always behind Infiniti's.

Yeah...why start with a 4 or 6 cyl. Honda, add mods, etc.? Get a head start with a 32 valve V8 then add the mods!

Now on the serious side. I think that a turbo can be installed on the Q. There is space on the passenger side where the battery sits.

Has anyone heard of a turbocharged VH45DE?

Do you think that it could handle the stress of forced induction, and wouldnt the PCM have to be reflashed?

If the boost is kept low(5-7psi) and base timing reduced a bit, it might work without reprogramming the ECU. But since no one has attempted this yet, we can't say for sure.

One thing that I can say is that the VH45DE is a very robust engine. If set-up properly, it can make some power.

it could be done.

modification of engine management would be necessary for impressive gains.

boost need not be kept low if intercooling and water injection are utilized.

Some ideas for a single-turbo set-up:

1. Modify the passenger manifold and invert it.

2. Keep driver's side manifold as is, maybe remove the pre-cat, and direct the exhaust to the passenger side where it would merge.

3. Relocate the battery to trunk, relocate fuel filter and re-route fuel lines, re-route the AC line coming from the compressor to the firewall.

With the various stuff moved, there is about 3.5 inches of space between the engine and the strut tower. Would a 2.5 inch downpipe be sufficient?

With the battery relocated, there would be space for a turbo to sit. I would use some kind of flex-joint to compensate for the movement of the engine.

Now, I don't know what kind of turbo would fit in the battery space. I was thinking a T4 because I know that the Bentley Turbo R used it. Do you have any suggestions?

Again, these are all ideas. I am not in anyway a turbo expert, strictly a novice. I am however, a horsepower fiend. :D

So help me out, if you can.

You could always mount it in the glove box :D

You could rip out the airbox and put it there, and mount some sort of other air intake (maybe like a cold air intake, with hoses off the air dam)

Why tear up the firewall?

Why not put the turbo in the trunk? The exhaust has to go that direction anyway.
