So my #8 injector went out and i replaced it with a blueish/purpleish one from scottsdale. the original was like a whitish/greyish color.

anyways since replacing it the q is hard to start but only the 2nd time. so if i wake up in the morning, q45 starts right up. if i drive it somewhere, turn the engine off for a few minutes and then try to start the engine, it takes about 2-3 key turns to start (as if the engine is flooded). starts right up after 2-3 key turns though.

could there be something wrong with the new blue injector? maybe too much fuel during ignition? if i disconnect the injector the car idles rough, but this sympton goes away. if removed the injector and checked the o-rings and everything looks kosher.

any ideas?

What P/N FI did IOS send you? A few of us have bought injectors and can look at our reciepts.

Your symptoms sound like a leaky lower o-ring. Any white smoke out the tailpipe? If you have a new replacement o-ring use it. Did the fuel rail cup feel smooth? Clean the cup and the upper o-ring groove with a soft towel and penetrant. Lube the FI up with Vaseline and try again.

It definitely sounds like a lower o-ring issue. I would remove it and replace the o-rings again. Clean the mating surfaces with a paper towel and brake parts cleaner. Then lightly coat the mating surfaces in the rail and the o-rings on the injectors lightly with motor oil.

Before wasting time. measure the leak down time of fuel rail fuel pressure below 34 psi.By crimping 2 hoses leaving engine you can decide where/which path the PSI leak down come from. Bad regulator, Bad fuel pump check valve, or leaky injector/oring.

If you value your engine, don't drive it till fixed or it may hydrolock.

The part # I got is 16600-67U10

I tried it with the both new o-rings and with the new upper o-ring and old lower o-ring. The reason I used the old lower o-ring was because the new one was not as thick as the old one and there was significant space. The old one fits much better.

I will try reseating the injector.

Please post up the part number for the o-rings as well. Having extra slack in the lower o-ring is a disaster waiting to happen! It is imperative that the problem be correted if a mistake is being made at IOS or by Nissan in improperly cross referencing the o-ring to an incorrect part!

You should absolutely replace those o-rings again with new correct parts. They are cheap enough even if you have to get them at your local dealer...

those are the correct part numbers.is it possible that they were in 'generic' bags?if not in a sealed package with a nissan pedigree sticker you never know....even then, look for tell-tale signs of being opened and restapled, etc.

we all love IoS, but i have seen a few mistakes over the years.

Thank goodness you were experienced enough to know not to just put it in there with the wrong o-ring!

I would have a chat with Joe about this... a hydrolocked engine is not good for anyone.

gentlemen, ios has verified (verbally) that for the fuel injector i purchased 16600-67U10 use the o-rings which i purchased (16618-10V05, 16618-53J00).

i've attached some pictures of the old injector next to the new o-rings for visual reference. you can clearly see the gap in the lower o-ring. the new injector has this same gap.

the old lower o-ring is much taller (less gap). i can take pictures if need be.

any thoughts?

Vertical gap doesn't matter so much as radial gap.

I suspect that they flatten and push upward when inserted? I would certainly pressurize the rail before you bolt it down to check for leaks though...
