I have been having trouble with the ignition lock on my '91 Q. It's still the original lock and the big key has eaten up the inside of the lock which caused it to stick on the way in. I switched recently to a smaller key (yes the G50 does come with five keys) and that worked great for a while then this morning nothing. I could get the key in the lock but I could not turn it. I tried again with one of the large keys but no luck. I was stuck. Good thing the car was in the garage. Any suggestions? Can I get the lock fixed or do I have to buy the entire set of locks?

I do believe they can be repaired, Just search on NICO and look around town to see if some one repairs (Waffer locks).

But have you tried powdered graphite?

Good Luck.

I did manage to get it to turn now with a little white lithium grease but I don't think that's the best way to fix it. Powdered graphite I have not heard of that but I will look. Thanks Paul.

Grease freezes trust me, I would use electrical parts cleaner or some degreaser to remove it before trying the graphite.

You can find powdered graphite at Auto zone for $4.
