My husband and I just purchased our first Q45. It is a 1995 BLK/BLK and we are in love. Of course now that we have it home it wants to show us its true self. It seems like something is holding it back when you first step on the gas to accelerate. Especially when you want it to really move! Also when cruising down the road, freeway or rural roads it hesitates slightly. When you want to accelerate fast it waits a second for it to respond than it does. It isn't all the time but seems to be getting more noticable. It could be that we are just looking for it now. If anyone has any ideas what this could be, please let us know. Also my husband is looking for a good manual on disc, any ideas where to get one?

Welcome to the board Mosley! Have you had time to read the previouos posts? If not, when you do, you will find a lot of information on keeping the MAF, Plenum, IAF and EGR valves clean, as well as the injectors, fuel rail and of course the fuel filter. Do a search and immerse yourselves.

The other thing to consider is the state of the car's fluids, especially the transmission. Do a search on flush, and you will open a whole new world for you. Posts by Q45tech are mandatory reading.

There are no good manuals on CD...you'll have to scour the internet to find a factory service bible. Apparently they're not all that common for the '95s yet; '90-'93 are easier to come by. I'd guess your intake and TB need to be cleaned out. How many miles? Welcome!

Welcome to NICO!!!

I, too have a 95Q. You'll want to go ahead and catch up on some of the maintenance that has been neglected (call it a hunch) by the prior owners.

For starters, new NGK plugs, a throttle-body and intake cleaning, an injector flush, a de-carb treatment, a new fuel and air filter, transmission flush & filter, coolant flush, rear diff fluid change, are all mandatory. All of this is relatively simple DIY, and we're glad to walk you guys through it.

Post some pics if you can, enjoy your new baby (95 is the BEST year for the Q IMO:D) and let us know if you need any help!

Thanks for the info, my husband is very mechanically inclined. You obviously feel he could do all of these himself? We need to get a maintenance manual to help things go a little faster and smoother. Any ideas where we could pick one of these up? Thanks again I love how informative everyone is on this site!Everyone looks out for each other, it sure is nice. Thank you again!!!!!!!!!

Once he is ready to start the work, feel free to ask here.

Several members have step-by-step "how-tos" with pictures, and others of us could walk him through the procedures in writing. Have him spend some time perusing old posts in this forum - Very informative stuff here, especially from DIY gurus like Q45tech, DAEDALUS, Q451990 and palmerwmd.

Also, several of us are glad to accept a call from a fellow Q owner and walk you through the process. I do this several times a month, e-me for a phone # when the time comes.

Contact Joe at Infiniti of Scottsdale for ALL parts needs. He can get you the best deal on plugs, transmission filter&gasket, fuel/air/oil filters, and even a manual. Mention you're a NICO member and get a great discount, make sure you talk to him on the phone - Great guy.

The manual will be pricey at $140+... If you're looking on eBay, any manual from 90 to 95 will apply to your Q (96 had some minor changes). I have a spare manual I will sell for less if you're interested, email me off-board.

That all sounds great, I will ask my husband if he wants to buy your extra one. Let me know what your e-mail address of sight is. Since we live in Seattle Washington, I don't know if it would be worth ordering from Scottsdale. I don't know what shipping prices would be. But thank you for that tidbit of info. I will look into it! Also when my husband decides to get greasy he might just take you up on the offer to call. Thanks again

The Q has 90,000 miles exactly. The previous owner did the 60,000 mile service. He claims when they changed the sparkplugs that they were perfect and it was a waste to do. Who knows if that is true? But I am sure at 90k it is in need of a little TLC. Unfortunatly I am not up on the abreviations for things, but if you write it out I know were and what pretty much everything is. I here and see from reading, you are a genius! I am glad if need be, I or my husband can pick your brain. Thank you for the welcome and reply.

It is DEFINITELY worth ordering from Scottsdale. They ship surface unless you need it fast, and most orders ship for $15 or less, unless it's really big or heavy. Just compare parts prices to your local dealer if you need convincing. An injector from Scottsdale costs $142 vs. $200 from my local dealer. Plus, you'll save on any state sales tax.TB=Throttle Body. Intake and fuel systems get dirty and cruddy over time, and need to be cleaned. A rail flush is usually effective for the fuel rail, while an intake cleaning usually requires a lot more manual labor to do a good job. "Fogger" intake cleanings aren't bad, but a good soaking of the intake and scrubbing of the throttle body are needed every now and then. I'll post some pics later today. Also, if you don't know how long it's been since the fuel and air filters have been replaced, go ahead and replace them.

For the past 2 days we were working on a 95Q with 93k.Knock sensors, plenum hoses, blocked EGR, leaking valve covers, brakes, a dozen other things.......including plugs. {$2200]We provided an additional list: transmission mounts, engine mounts, suspension upper links and tension rods, shocks.......needs another $2,300 minimum.....33k x 0.15cents per mile = $4,950...pretty much right on target.

Nothing had been done since the 60k [plugs? looked factory].The owner declined transmission maintenance so who knows when the black ATF will give up.

I'd say it's trickier, but if you have the right tools it should take less time.
