How many miles can one expect out of the axle shafts on the Q? I have 165k on my 94 Q.

Does it take a set after a while like the driveshaft? Does a lowered ride height affect the life of your axle shafts?

I priced 2 new axles. OUCH> Almost $1800. As far as I can tell, no one makes aftermarket for these.

249.2k and still good, they are so short! When you lower the rear the body just comes down 0.8" .............go question, I'll have to measure the new angle.

* good point I did replace the rear diff about 37,000 miles after my lowering but it had 222k on it and the problem was front bearing noise and loss of some LSD action [viscous]......not the blotter kind. We reused the shafts and placed them in a new rear subframe and changed the bearings and hubs.......they looked ok.

Today we replaced a lower rear a arm [accident], surprised at how well the rubber isolation bearing looked after 12 years and 170,000 miles.
