Q45 guides

I just had a new set of guides and tensioners shipped to me, since we do not have an Infinity dealer in our city. They look like they were sitting in their parts bin for a while. I just want to make sure thar they are the updated guides. I got the part numbers from earlier posts. Are the new guides using the same part #? Chain guide part # 13085-60u11 are black plastic with two holes on each end. When looking at the service manual these dont even show up. The other guides are metal backed with black plastic guides. What are the differences I should be looking for? Since my Q is my daily driver I want to make sure before I tear it down. Any help would be appreciated.

The plastic guides you're talking about are only 1/2 the fix...you'll notice that you also (should) have metal-backed straight guides as well. These share the same bolt-pairs as the solid plastic (nylon?) pieces (hence the longer bolts). The plastic ones have bosses on them that fit into grooves in the metal guides. In other words, the plastic ones sit on top the metal ones. Play around with them a little and they will make sense. Good luck...I hope you find your old guides intact. If not, then spend some time trying to fish them out of the oil pan rather than removing the pan just for them. I thought that maybe a vacuum hooked up to a flexible hose might be used to suck out any pieces one by one, but I haven't yet tried that method.

You may want to look at the back of your car sometime. Infinity is a concept, Infiniti is a marque.
