First thing to ask, to eliminate the simple stuff...

Are you running larger than stock rims on the car? If so, it could be tires rubbing on the wheel wells when the wheels are turned.

Hey RustyBucket, is that a Pulsar in your Avatar? I bet most people forgot that particular car ever existed. I had one, back in the late 80's. After a few years, and numerous problems, I wished I had bought the sentra instead....lol.

And Motu1956, check your right front splash shield. They tend to brush up on the rotor and make a grinding sound when you turn, if they're even slightly bent, due to close tolerances. Might be it.

Also, if the dust/splash shields on the rear sides of the rotors are bent, you might hear a metal on metal scraping noise if you have your windows down while driving past a wall or other structure close to the road that reflects sound..

That is indeed a Pulsar in my avatar, my old '86. It was the first car that was truly mine, as well as my introduction to the Nissan family and to DIY car repair. It was a dependable little car for $350. I'd still be driving it if it hadn't rusted out in structural areas, which is where the inspiration for my forum nickname came from.
(sorry for the OT)

The splash pan was drooping down.
