I'm replacing the fuel filter on my 91 and noticed that the take-off filter rattled like the entire filter element has come loose. No noise on the new one. It's the OEM Tennex type replaced 10K ago at the dealer. This isn't "normal" is it? If the filter was loose could this have contributed to my injector failure due to small debris? I've had the other 7 injectors cleaned but it does make me wonder about the one bad one. Any thoughts?Steve

Never had a fuel filter rattle ,, i've had four Q45s and I've never had an injector replaced either.. Change fuel filter every 10-15k, put a bottle of Techtron in , use only pre fuel

I've always done a 10-15K fuel filter interval on all my cars. I usually do a two-bottle Techron on the Q every 500 miles or so depending on type of driving (highway or city). I'm going to cut that filter apart and see what came loose. If the failed OEM filter caused any of my injector problems I would think I have an issue with the dealer who did the service 10K ago. They'll probably blow it off though.

I'd take it back to the dealer before cutting it open. Doubt you'll get anywhere with it, but who knows? I assume it should hold up for it's expected life span (or at least the 12K warranty on most other parts).
