Hay guys, I have a 1999 Q45v8 and I got a quote for a cat back exhaust at a well known shop for 780 bucks! It's that the going rate these days!!!?

Well, I went on the net and now I'm looking at buying 2 universal maganaflow high flow cats (75 bucks each) and 2 magnaflow mufflers and just taking the parts to a muffler shop to weld it up which SHOULD come out cheaper!!

What you guys think?

Why do you want to change the exhaust?

Now I know they were cutting costs since 1994 but I think the OEM catalytic converters should last longer than after market.

If its for sound go for it?

If its for power well pay the guy what he wants first then take it to a dyno and see what you gained.

But when mosts shops hear Infiniti, BMW and other brands that don't kill you (Sorry Toyota) they raise the price. I want to call up a shop one day and tell them I have a POS Toyota then go there with the Q and see if the price stays the same for a BG fuel service.

And most shops raise labor prices (rightly so) when you bring your own parts. And some shops give you a guarantee on there work others don't (Depends on who bought the parts and other variables too).

the exhaust is already dual all the way back to the rear muffler.

Replace the rear muffler with a dual in/dual out unit and see how you like the sound.

Thanks for the replys! Well, the only reson why I want to replace it is because there is a leak (a hole) somewhere by the left cat. It sounds awful.

Figured I just upgrade the whole exhaust system... I'm looking at just buying the parts I said and just take them to a shop to weld it up for me. I need to call around more but I had no idea i would get a quote for over 700 bucks!

And yes, you are right, when people hear Infinit they think $$$$$$! Thats why I will stick to my Ford Mustang and my Nissan Maxima! The infinit is my moms car.

I did the BG fuel service myself on my maxima when I first got her. I paid like 50 bucks for 2 cans at a Auto dealer. Truth be told, I was told by a well known fuel injector rebuild guy in Californa that the best thing to do keep your fuel system clean is to use well known gas (Shell, 76, Sunoco) and then every other fill up use STP white can injector cleaner.

I can't say anything good or bad about the BG 44 stuff because my injectors were shot at the time.

When did you pay $50?

Did you supply the cans?

I ask because now everyone wants $100-200 with there parts? I called my BG friend (Distributor) and he told me BG44K is $10 list. I forgot to ask him about the red BG fuel injector cleaner can.

Irving and shell carry good stuff, BP just moved in and started advertising. But all US petrol has E10 so there is no wa around it. Unless you buy your own fuel in barrels (Race fuel) or make it like Q45tech says.

That is odd about the exhaust leak in the left cat. When I was looking for a car, one of them had a loud exhaust leak on the left side, right under the driver. I bought my 2000 q45, and 2 months later---I hear an exhast leak on the left side. Looked under the car, and it's right at the cat. This sucks---going to be expensive I bet. I'll report back after I get some quotes. Must be a common problem on these cars?> I have low miles too--at just 93k

A 10 year old car has depreciated by 90%.........that means it would cost 22K in parts and 22k in labor to restore it to brand new. Some of this has already been spent.

But we warn every used car buyer to have at least $3,000 cash on hand after the purchase to fix some of the things missed.

Not to say that it might be much worse than that, I remembered one new used purchase we quoted $11,000 just to get Q functional.

Sorry bud I have been busy lately. I paid about 50 bucks for it at a Caddy dealership in California. Hmm I'm wondering however if we are talking about the same things... I got two small cans with my purchase; one I dumped into the gas tank and other other I fed into the intake system..

As far as BP, yes just stick with them... None of that discount gas...

All gasoline comes from the same tank farms by truck.
All trucks are filled from the same tanks.
However local big name marketeers do have a few drops per gallon of special sauce added as the truck is being filled.
Whether the special sauce does anything in thesmall quanties added is debateable.

Does 11 oz of BG in 22 or 10 gallons = 8/10 of a %] compare to something 10 or 100x or 1000x weaker.
