You wont be able to get a good running engine for that much... not one youd have to dump a lot of money into......

your better off with a jdm takeout.

i would rather spend $1800 on a good motor, than spend $600 on a motor thats gonna need $2000+ in repair.

All the pristine JDM still need new chain guides.........they typically were only driven 5-7,000 miles per year so guides never became a problem...........just export the problem here.

By the time you get thru resealing the JDM valve covers and oil pan changing the hoses, water pump and spark plugs, and knock sensor and harness, thermostat...........you are adding $1300 in parts. [$1000 plus freight for Inet sources]. Plus over a days labor.

If you drop by ATL I'll show you the 2 places where the Q engines are piled to the ceiling 3-4 high on shelves.......you can take your pick. Last time I was there they had 14.

Q45 tech thankyou

I won't be down any time soon but I can ask my friend down there to take a look for me.

Are you saying that the ebay motor wouldn't be a good deal.

My thinking is that either way it is a gamble. Even with the JDM I have to imagine that there is the possiblility of something being wrong coming from the other side of the globe. Not on the part of the engine but on shipping.

I just figured maybe with this motor I would come out a little cheaper, but once again I am not ignorant. Problems can be underlying. With the motor out the price of chain guides will be no where near as expensive. I have a good mechanic here in NY. As far as all the other things that need to be changed (ie: knock sensors and such) those things seem minor in comparison to alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust.

I am not knocking their priority level or anything like that but as long as I have something to start with.

By the way tech what are the price ranges of those motors you are speaking of.
