first of all, the fan is loud!

i hear the electric fan turn on every time i come to a stop. yesterday i heard the fan but ac was on so i didn't think anything of it. today it was 70 degrees ambient with ac off and cloudy and i heard it turning on. the inside temp gauge never moves above 3 o'clock and i thought the fan only turns on if overheating and for ac. i know i have a very small coolant leak near the radiator drain that i need to find, but i check the coolant often to make sure it's not low. thermostat and coolant + water wetter have been in for about a year. when i'm stopped the idle is just a tad low but within spec according to the tach. i am also using the pop-charger with a heatshield and 4" hole drilled underneath if that makes a difference.

do i have a gauge/sensor problem, some problem with the fan, or am i overheating? please help.

edit: it didn't do this before, even when 85 degrees and sunny with no ac on.

The 94 -96 has a 3 speed fan.

Unfortunately the inside gauge is so damped that it cannot display quickly when temp rises above normal but under 210F accurately.

You will have to use a Consult to read the REAL accurate coolant temperature that the ecu sees from a different sensor.

You want to make sure that the ecu never sees higher than 195F otherwise it will start the overheat safety program. This clue [the fan on] is indicative that you are running hotter than 195F.

10 year old radiators are never as good as new. Watch out for deterioration of the foam surround. crack plastic fan blades and wornout viscous fan coupling........dirt/leaves between condenser and rad.

found that there's actually a hole in my radiator. thought about jb welding it but it will probably better if i just buy a new one.
