Went to the junkyard and pulled a driveshaft out of an old 90Q. In the process of removing it, I tore the rubber on the centerline bearing. I called Scottsdale and was told it's not a separate item. Had anyone ever tried swopping one of these?

Thx

Drew

The old drive shafts suffer from internal failure [loosening] of the foam dampening material thus they cannot be rebalanced to spec.

There was a [center bearing support] change around 1993 resulting in longer life.

Without the newish pliable center rubber support the shaft sags and vibrations begin and get worse with age.

Never had any luck with used or rebalanced, thus always new unit to restore near new feel.......indexing required to select the correct phase alignment at highway speed.

My first one went at 120k, 183k on second unit, beginning to notice that replacement will soon be in order.

Lasting 7 years means the drive shaft only costs ~~$100 per year vs $400 for a transmission or $350 for an engine [over 15 years] for future replacement.....not maintenance.

Check with Ty at T3 [or Sports and imports] they might have some used but better condition {?}.

Im pretty happy with my driveshaft from power train industries, cost $450 shipped.... and comes with completely replaceable things. U joints, center bearings, etc... Plus it uses a U joint in the front instead of that stupid flex disc.

Thanks Fellas,

All good advice but.....

I'm stubborn and cheap... I got this driveshaft so cheap that I have nothing to lose by trying it, otherwise it's going in the trash. I still want to know if anyone has ever pulled a centerline bearing off a shaft. I suppose it destroy's the bearings in the process? The rubber is still good on my current shaft but probably not swoppable?

If that doesn't work, I'm about to break out the bicycle tire patch kit..... Don't make me do it cuz you know I will!!!

...Drew...
