Hi How much of a pain was it to put in the JDM ex. mans. ?I've had a set ready to go for the last year or so...

Just a brief description will suffice. ...like jack the engine up, remove starter, etc.

Did you re-use the gaskets if there were any?

Thanks a lot !

Since I intalled them with the engine out of the car it was no trouble at all. I did use new gaskets. Some just punch out the precats,

Before you do, might want to check on Q45tech ancient post.

No gains.

The precat honeycomb is designed to expand with heat and offer less and less resistance as the engine warms up............just there to function in the first few minutes of a cold start.

Why gutting/removing doesn't do much for mpg or power.

Another advantage would be to gutting pre-cats would be you would never have too worry about them getting clogged like the 2 cat-converters do sometimes? Right or wrong? Would this shorten or extend the life of your EGR AND O2 Sensors or have no effect?

Never seen a precat clog................ocassionally melt into a solid mass from bad injectors/MAF etc..............but that usually causes other problems on piston crowns/exhaust valves, stem seals so punching them out doesn't solve much..........requires engine tear down/replacement.

If anything the EGR would not function as well as designed because there would be less back pressure at cruise rpm..............we are speaking of tiny back pressure but some is necessary to send EGR up the tube.
