FYI I know we all complain that the Q cup holder SUCKS

here is the best holder I just ordered 4 - 2 for my Q and 2 for my M

I had a similar inferior one for the past 2 years that just broke.

I mount mine w/Goop on the door panel Just rear of front speaker on the pocket, I have seen others mounted on side of center consul

here is the link:

CherryPoppinQ45....got a link to where I can buy those niffty cup holders of yours...I am seriously thinking about going with an aftermarket radio setup and having these cup holders would push me much further to go with a new stereo setup.

The in dash cup holder/coin tray came OEM in my 1990 Mercury Cougar. From what I recall, they're fine for a canned drink, but way too small and flimsy for much else. Seems like they contributed to the hundreds of rattles and squeaks in that POS car too...

I think it came from a Saab. I found it on Ebay by searching for 'din cup,' here is one for under $7 + $4 shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW

Or, you could always go for the expensive JDM model:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVWhey its only $90...lol. DEFINITELY not my first choice for a $100 mod!!

thanks for the awesome link...but a few more questions. Does it feel sturdy and is functional or is it really only for light duty usage?

I noticed that for $6 they switch the coin & cup holder location to get the cupholder to stick out further but on yours you do not have this option. Which one do you think would work better? Cup holder on top or on bottom?

Also I can't tell from your pics, but does yours still have the cupholder retaining bar that drops to the bottom when it comes out to hold a coke can or was that removed?

The JDM one is nice, but I don't see how a can of coke would stay upright going around a curve or in my case stomping on the gas.

That type of a plastic DIN cupholder/coin tray was stock on a late 80's/early 90's Taurus - there should be a pile of them at junkyards still - I actually have one sitting out separately - I was going to replace a bin on my T’bird under my HU - If you can’t grab one through a local yard - and since its been on the shelf for over a year - I might part with her. BTW, $6 to change positions on the tray vs the holder is laughable once you see the unit unmounted.

I’ve posted this before - but this is a really decent alternative that doesn’t require any mods - holds the sucka out of the way and doesn’t potentially damage any precious (and expensive !) electronics -

The flanges can be bent around and adapted for 12oz cans up to Big Gulps - I’ve heard of some really happy owners - while it lacks the “drip tray” - at least it would only soak the carpet - carpet cleaner vs electronics repair hmmmmmmmmm !

If you want to bend over for full pop - ultimatecupholders

I’m still waiting for Gregg to fab up some w/a NICO logo on ‘em !

Mine has the fold down thingy. Great observation about the swithched positions for the holder btw. If you can find one with the holders on top it may be better, but mine is functional and works very well for me. It holds medium and large cups from fast food joints, it is sturdy, and secure. I would guess some of the folks are against it just because they think its sacrilage to take the bose head unit out. I on the other hand, am giving you my honest opinion as I have one installed and use it. I hope this information helps you in making a decision.

You may even want to place it above the CD player to offer even more clearance. I have a radar unit plugged in and I am still allowed to open the cupholder and release the basket, so I think there is enough room as it is, still I may take it out and look at rearranging it.
