Nice find. I wish the news anchor would have indicated if the improved scoring cars were implemented prior to full production or if it was a mid-run update.

Actually, the late firing airbag was also a problem on the G50. The driver would just about hit the wheel when the bag fired, thrusting the driver (and especially his neck) back into the seat back. I don't know if it was ever corrected. Surprising to see it still on the F50, but I have never seen any test of the FGY33.

Why didn't the side air bags deploy? Or does the 97 model NOT have side air bags?

Thanks.

edit: Nevermind... it typically deploys for side impact.... also the 98+ has revised front safety belt pre-tensioners.

For the 2000 Q45 they used data from a 1997 crash test. I wonder if any improvements had been made to the 2000 compared to the 1997? Its a shame a luxury car should have such bad crash test results.

I think they just give them to recycling yards.

In fairness, I dont think the W210 MB E-class did much better, and it sold in much larger quantities. So, while this crash test wasn't impressive, its not the worst of its time.

I think the Infiniti J30 held a long-standing record for the fewest fatalities. One poor guy on this forum, years ago, rolled his repeatedly. He opened the door and walked out completely unscathed!

Yea I remember seeing an I30 that some how ended up under a 18 wheeler semi and some who it was sandwiched between the another car and the rear wheels of the trailer. But the guy walked away, as for the other guy he was more badly hurt despite the fact that he was the one in front of the I30 which was between him and the rear wheels of the trailer.
