Hello Everyone,

I'm new in this forum and first off I have to thank you guys for all the helpful information everyone has input in here as it has helped me with my Q45 Y33.

Now to the topic:
I recently changed my knock sensor bank 1 and bank 2, now my car is throwing random misfire code, but I wanted to know is if there is an identical coil pack that can work for the Q45 VH41DE, just like how the knock sensor is same for the SR20 / KA24DE. Thank you.

I'm not sure about a cross reference, but the general consensus here is that you would want to replace all 8 with OEM new. We've seen member after member chase a misfire from one cylinder to the next, only to finally relent and replace all of them.

I have no idea - I haven't heard of anything that's cross compatible.

I'd check on some of the aftermarket sites, like Advance Auto or Autozone and see if they show the same part number... or call the parts counter at a dealership...

I just went through this, although, I never got a code. I had a randrom misfire (engine stutter).

My mechanic recommended I replace all my plugs and coils. Yes, I didn't want to go to the Dealership, I mean, Stealership and pay what they wanted.

My mechanic found that the OEM coil packs for my 2000 Q45 AE are made by Hitachi. These are now available aftermarket. As the previous poster said, your better off replacing all 8 of them rather than going one by one trying to find the "bad ones".

I don't know if you have an Olympus Imported Auto Parts store where you are but that is where I got mine.
I believe the Olympus part number for my car is MCP 1322. I believe the Hitachi part number is HITIGC0013.

Doing this stopped my random misfires and the Q runs better as well.

Hope this helps!

That's a GOOD price! I paid a tad more than that (even with my contact). Just as you, I found them a little cheaper online but in case of a faulty part, I figured I pay the few extra bucks because I got a storefront and not have to deal with returning, shipping, etc.

Good for you, I hope it works out and takes care of your cars problems.

Thanks man I appreciate it, yeah it took me awhile to locate an affordable one hahaha
and I did install them already on the car along with the plugs and now I'm having problems my injector(s) leaking cause it's still throwing a random misfire but it smells like gas and blowing white smoke that smells like gas. So now I have to deal with that and hopefully that eliminates my problem so I can drive my car again.

I wouldn't assume that your injectors are the problem... they're pretty bulletproof on the Y33. Couldn't the unburned fuel be due to no spark? Maybe problem with the coil packs or wiring going to them?

Damn really?? I heard Y33 injectors sucks, and it's similar to 300zx, SR20 and KA24DE motors. and I've read here that the injectors O-rings do go out on the Y33. If the injectors are bulletproof, I doubt it can be the coil packs are they are OEM aftermarket Hitachi replacement and for the wiring, I saw no signs of bad connections etc. If you guys have any other way to figure this out before I order my injectors o-rings and start taking it apart that would be great as I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks
Chris

We really don't see injector failures on the Y33. If you suspect a lower o-ring issue, I would pull the rail, pressurize it (key on) and see if fuel squirts or drips around the tip. I know... easier said than done.

I think it would just be a heck of a coincidence for the injectors to fail just after you replaced the spark plugs and coil packs. Not impossible, but usually a problem that crops up right after work is done is related to the work...

yeah man tell me about it... I was like damn it was like a problem waiting to happened, but it's alright though, gives me more time to get familiar with the work so i know how to approach it if it ever happens again and i can even help a fellow nico member if the same thing happens to them, I'll try to take pictures of the DIY fuel injector removal to help anyone here that is looking for a helping hand.

I believe I saw another thread pertaining to white smoke and a "gas" smell. I would poke around a bit and get a professional opinion or two before replacing the injectors, that can be expensive.

I'm actually just replacing the O-rings not the actual injectors like you said it is pricy.

I had a problem with hard starting and blowing some white smoke, and a gas smell under the hood. Turned out to be a fuel pressure regulator (or damper.) It wasn't maintaining pressure to the injectors and possibly some fuel was being sucked into the vacuum lines causing the white smoke?

I fixed the problem, and it was a bad injector on #1. It was leaking causing the white smoke fuel smell when the car is running, now it's problem free. and running great!

thanks guys I really appreciate it.

Hello fellas I'm new to the forum and am in the process of getting a 2000 Q45. Im vey fascinated wth the car and cant wait to get it. I'm actually getting a good deal and trading my Honda Prelude for the Q45. The only thing that I'm a bit worried about is the MPG. Anyways, back on topic just for future reference about a good website I have used for years now to build my Honda Prelude. Rockauto.com has the Hitachi coil packs for the 97-2001 Infiniti Q45 for $60/ each. This site is awesome and I highly recommend it. They have many other parts as well. Just spreadng the good word.

Well im not promoting Rockauto I was just simply trying to add some info on another source to get some coil packs a little bit cheaper than the OP did. I am not a troll or spammer. I'm simply doing my homework on this chassis. Google simply led me here through a web search on common issues in a Q45. I then wanted to see the price on the coil packs just to give me an idea on maintenance cost. I've been a long time active member of another car forum for my current car and im simply just trying to help another enthusiast. Nothinh else btw I do have a real job lol.

So I have the studder on my 99 q45 - My mechanic wants to run OEM and the total cost for parts and coil packs is going to cost $1400.00 - The Hitachi's run between $44.00 x8 online - $360.00 instead of Denzo's at $120.00 per coil pack -

there are a lot of posts here regarding these Hitachi - I just wanted to hear from someone who is running them -
Looks like OEM part number is 224483H000, price from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com is $101 each.

Another link mentioned is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VPPCXTA

it appears that some of you are running the Hitachi coil packs - are you having any issues?

I made the mistake of buying crap ones on ebay... All 8 for $150ish

I replaced my second one last month with this one: https://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-IGC0013- ... hi+igc0013

So far so good....

I pulled the trigger on these off eBay - All Hitachi - it's only been a week but replacing all 8 coil packs with the Hitachi's worked and I now have improved throttle performance on low end and right through the power band - no more studder and mis-fire at the stop light - Changed plugs and cleaned out throttle body and cleaned fuel rail and injectors - all better - this seller just bumped up the price from what I bought last week about 12 bucks - I ordered 2 sets from him to get all 8 and all is well so far.

You can find all 8 on ebay for <$100. Infiniti buys them from a supplier anyway, most from hitachi. anyway, as one other person said, not worth checking them all, just replace them all.

I see the ones your talking about but I am afraid to buy them - some of the sellers don't tell you if they are refurbished - used or Hitachi's - when you filter the Hitachi's out I got mine for around 300 shipped instead of 1200 dollars at dealer - I am on my 2nd month almost and it's running peak in fact my gas mileage improved so much I calculated 25.1 MPH last tank.

I just replaced all eight of mine, too. I used RA, got Hitachis (full set for $300-ish). It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to replace them, either. Now the thing runs like oiled silk...especially after I got the alignment done and the tires rebalanced. Mileage only went up to 21 or so from 19, but I guess that's pretty standard for mostly highway driving.

Oh well, I didn't buy an economy car, guess this is the price I must pay to ride in luxury, lol...
