Alright.... Another post about those d**** chain guides... Is there anyone parting out a q with the updated chain guides???? I MUST HAVE THEM!!!!! My Q is a 1992 with 172 on the dash.. the last owner said he didnt change them out so i KNOW they need to be replaced. One more question>> doesnt the dealership have records on the car once they run the VIN?

I have a 1994 Q45 Engine with 180,000 on it.

You better stop using your car right away and find another mode of transportation.

If the car was serviced there then yes but get a car fax report of where the car has been and then call the surrounding dealers.

I think there's a set of guides for sale in the Infiniti Parts Section.

The dealer is under no obligation to print the Infiniti Dealer performed service history. A service writer who you patronize will do it for you, but it take a while to get it from Infiniti archives.

Another option is to register the car with Infiniti Customer Service and they will read it to you over the phone, a real pain but better than nothing.

Best to replace tensioners and even oil pump drive chain also. New is always better than used, and you don't want to go back in any time soon. Parts are relatively inexpensive compared to labor or effort and time.

Takes our experts 6-7 hours [stopwatch] with a bathroom break to do the job correctly...............the book says 10 hours but we have changed hundreds in 13 years.

Someone who has not done one and is an expert tech on Q can usually do it in 10-11 hours with on site advice from expert.

IF [probably] the oil pan must be removed and cleaned of broken guide pieces, then add 5-6 hours to the job.

Making a mistake [retiming engine] can turn it into a 20-25 hour job or worse bending a valve or rod.

T3 charges $1200 or $1720 with oil pan removal.

I suggest on a Q that old to just drive it as is, if and when the chain guides go, just junk it and purchase a 94-96Q for peanuts.

i saw a step by step on here somewhere... can i have a link to it and why would it take 5 or 6 hours more to drop my oil pan? my worst fear is taking off the front cover and finding that they have been replaced already.... also is it possible for me to keep the chain from losing its timing?

If you have a straight no rust will maintained Q45, no reason not to restore it. Few decent G50 worth buying out there.
