Hi, I just got a 94 Q and it's in pretty good condition (70.000 miles). The only problem it has is the cd changer (everything is factory, bose head unit and 10 cd sony changer). The owner said it has not been working for about 3 years. I took a look at it, and the cd changer works the head unit just doesn't acknowledge that it is there. It looks like maybe a wiring issue. I was talking to some other people who had the same problem. What can I do?

I had the same issue and just got one of these. It seemed like the easiest solution.

The Sony's are not very dependable but you might try cleaning the insides with some compressed air before you write it off.

First, do a search and read the other posts.

Second, take off all the covers and get to the connector. Undo it and turn on the ignition to run position, then turn it off. Reconnect.

Do not force the CD Casette Magazine into the player. It will take it up automatically.

The units are very reliable, but do require maintenance avery ten years or so, depending on the trunk environment. If all else fails, it can be returned to Sony for a rebuild for $170. Email me if it gets this far.

Are you sure no CD is stuck in it?

6 CD player seems very inadequate after one is accustomed to 10 CD player.

has anyone figured out which fuse controls power to the CD changer? seems easier to pull fuse to reset changer, rather than dismantling changer covers to get to plug to achieve the same result.

I already undid the connector, but I did not start the car, I'll try that and see what happens...

It looks like a wiring problem. I reset the cd changer, and there are no cd's inside. The changer is working fine, I guess the connection going to the head unit is messed up. Should I just take it to an area dealer?

Did you test it with a full magazine of dummy (i.e. - CDR)? Did it cycle through? Wiring shouldn't change.
