I don't know how things are in other parts of the county, but here in the NY metro area, you don't do that. You take your keys and lock it up. Her leg was almost amputated so I don't think she'll be having a fast recovery. Yes..leaving keys in car is just plain dumb and lazy. I don't think the guy cared about resale. It's mentioned in the video that they were planning a robbery so he probably was looking for a fast getaway car.
