I made a thread a few days ago asking about this subject, but I decided to make a new thread with a more search-friendly title.

It is confirmed, 1994-2000 Nissan Altima front rotors are the same overall size as the G50 Q45 brake rotors. The only differences are:

Altima rotors are factory drilled to 4x114.3Altima rotors are slightly thinner than stock Q discs (about 3-6mm eyeballing it)

I bought the Q brakes because a local machine shop will be able to drill them for me at a low price, and the extra thickness will give me a longer rotor life before replacing.

Also, Q rotors were cheaper for me. I get parts at cost through my works supplier; Q brakes list at 58.99, I paid 25.50. Altima rotors list at 46.99, I would have to pay 35.26.

Hope this helps some future Q brake upgraders!

Sooooo...basically, Q45 cali's and padi's and Altima Roti's ?

3-6mm isnt that much of a longer than normal brake service. But for the hassle of machine'n to shoot str8 to the autoparts store and back home and install is cool for me...

I wonder if this will work for 300zx..cali's

I drilled mine in my driveway with a Dewalt drill. The rotors are hub-centric so as long as the wheel studs fit through the rotors fine and flat, the rotor gets sandwiched between the wheel and hub and after torquing it down its solid as a rock. Been running it for almost 2 years now with no issues. Been my daily and weekend drifter a few times as well.

But if anyone feels uncomfortable drilling it themselves can't go wrong with a machine shop.

Yes you are correct, Q45 pads, Q45 Calipers, and 94-00 Altima front rotors. The slightly thinner rotor will wear out faster, but its still thicker than a stock 240 rotor.

If I wasn't switching up to 5 lug soon, I would have totally got the Altima rotors.

oh, and my cost was cheaper for Q's but at list they're around the same.

I wish I'd taken my camera, but its too late now rotors were special ordered in and I'm not gonna go back to the parts store with my rotors for 1 pic..

Is this safe???

Youre supposed to replace rotors when they've been cut 2mm less than their standard thickness. Using a rotor 3-6mm smaller than standard doesnt seem like a good idea. Standard Q rotors are 28mm with a minimum thickness of 26mm...

Its perfectly safe... the piston has enough travel in it to grab the rotor..

The 2 mm thing is from the rotors starting thickness.

Say the Q rotor is 20mm, and min. is 17 you replace at 18 or 17 if you're pushing it.

Altima starts at 17, min. is 15... replace at 16 or 15 its simple.

The caliper doesn't care how thin the rotor is as long as it doesn't require the piston to over-extend its intended movement. The difference in rotor size will in no way come close to this. Trust me, I'm a mechanic it's safe you'll just have a shorter rotor life because its thinner.

if you don't trust me buy Q rotors... lol
