i need a brake upgrade soon. will the q45 brakes fit under my 15in wheels? If so is there anyone that sells these as a package? or do i have to go to a junkyard and find them? Is my not having ABS going to affect this? Do i need the master cylinder from the Q?

thanks in advance

p.s. i tried to search but i couldnt find anything????

i know, tooooooo many questions at once, but i need to do this soon.

Q brakes *should* clear 15s, as the Q originally came with 15 inchers. Nissan Motorsports sells the package, but you're better off going the salvage route, much cheaper. Doesn't matter either way about ABS, the hub is the only different part and can be interchanged anyway. Master cylinder is not required, unless you just want it, but the Q cylinder won't work. If your car is a 5speed, you can swap up to an automatic MC very easily giving you a 1/16" more bore, not much but noticeable.

Any "official" word on this ? Will Q45 brakes fit under stock S13 alloy (SE) rims ?

Thanks

I'd just like to know for sure since I need new brakes, so I'd like to upgrade while I'm at it but I don't want to replace my stock wheels.

Thanks !

Yes, they will fit, for sure. They even fit under steel wheels.

Thanks !!! I've already located a pair of 1993 calipers with 78,000 miles on them. Now I just have to pick some rotors and pads.

Brembo flats are about $55 each and Power Slot's are about double that...

I haven't found any decent Q45 pads but I'm still looking.

Thanks again for the info !

KVR are good pads, so are Metal-Matrix. Either should serve you fine, I personally like KVR.

I feel like such an idiot ... I bought a pair of q45 front calipers from a junkyard and now I realize that I got exactly that. Two calipers, nothing else, I don't have the part that holds the pads.

I don't suppose the parts from the 240 will work since I assume the pads are a different size.

Is this a common practice ? should I have asked for something else ?

Nothing worse than feeling like a dolt.

ressurecting this post!

is the master cylinder upgrade necessary for installation of the setup?

i might purchase just the entire front setup (all hardware included), redrilled to 4-lug. any input on this?

You don't need to upgrade the mc, I ran this upgrade on my '91 G20. The pedal feel was excellent.

Let me clear everything up.

I did my Q brake upgrade.

First, It will fit stock steelie wheel with no problem. Even stock Q45 rims are 15 inch.

Second, you don't really need to upgrade to bigger MC if you're going to upgrade front only. Pedal feel is not that bad.

Third, Be very careful when you select a rotor. Some of aftermarket rotor WILL NOT clear the stock s13 wheel hub.

Forth, Brake Master Cylinder from Q45 will not work. Q45 only has two holes for brake line because it has ABS. You can't drill a hole either. Try Z32 Brake Master cylinder. (don't buy Z31, it's not worth it)

Here are some threads i made long time ago. Very helpfulhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=141420

Which pads? better ask Q45 peoplehttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=108183
