Just curious if anyone had put the Q45 front brakes on a Vert yet?

I have some Q45 calipers already, just wondering if the upgrade is worth it over the ABS size S13 calipers. Any noticeable imrpovment?

Thanks

I have the J30 on mine and the braking is definitely noticeable. But people say bigger brakes are not good unless you do the back too because of braking balance, but I think my car stops better.

I have Z32 30mm on the front of my coupe with stock rears and don't have any issues. So I'm not worried about the stock rears on the Vert.

I would do Z32 on the Vert, but 002 wheels won't fit over them.

Yeah, just the matter of the money for the Pads/shims and rotors (and drilling them for 4 lug). Guess it can be a long term winter project. As I need to get credit card paid off and a new top first.

Has more to do with brake balance. With larger calipers in front and no abs you might get the fronts to lockup first due to increased friction area. If you mainly brake while in a straight line, you will see better braking performance, although increased nosedive. It will get a little less manageable while braking in a turn.
If you weren't going to do the rear brakes, installing an adjustable prop valve (rear circuit) can balance it back a bit, caveat being increased load for the smaller rear brakes.
Then there's the issue of pedal pressure vs. line pressure vs. piston volumes, but we aren't talking about a real serious brake upgrade. (smallish 1 piston to smallish 2 piston)

Recommended for a street car, forsure.

Oh I thought you had 5 lug for some reason. Redrilling seems a hassle to me

Just use the old ones to mark and drill, shouldn't be bad.

I guess if you have the tools at your disposal. I just got me a nice low profile jack finally. I wish I had a garage I could put tools in.

It costs money, too much of it. All the money goes to house payment and tools instead of the cars.

I still live at my parents haha, but we turned the garage into a room. Well right now the jack is in the corner of my room.

The rotors are so easy to drill. I drilled my rears for the 5-lug. Im using z32 30mm in the front and slotted/drilled rears with some good pads and my braking feels fantastic compaired to stock.

Do it!!! You won't be sorry. I did mine at the first of the summer and I love it! The rotors on our verts are a little larger being the ABS ones, but the calipers are the same as any S13....with the added weight of our cars it really helps having the larger Q45 calipers. Was very simple to do, if you can put new break pads on a car you can do this. Hardest part was putting the new boots on the Q45 calipers when I rebuilt them. I bought my new rotors already drilled for 4 lug but have heard it's pretty easy to do yourself. But I would take to your local machine shop and have them do it instead, I did ask my buddy that works in a machine shop...he said it would cost about $14-18 to do both, about $7-$8 each.

I just did this yesterday. the q45 rotors were drilled for 4 lug as well. everything bolted right up easily and the only thing i really had to mess with is the dust cover (just bent it back) Night and day braking difference!
