i was wondering if anyone else may have been able to make this work..... i picked up some q45 brakes and rotors cheap the other day and tried to put them on my max today. i figured it would be straight foward like doing this on an 240sx but it isnt. the rotors are the same diameter but the q45 caliper sits closer to the hub than the stock one does and everything rubs.

soooooo...... is there some kind of bracket or something i can buy to make this work? anybody with any other ideas?????

Not sure that I've seen this done before. As a matter of fact, When I did have my Maxima, I don't recall anyone switching the brakes over.

Brad, you're on the ledge.

It's not that I will not let you, it's in the Terms Of Service that you agreed to when you signed up with NICO. If you do not like it, leave. I will not tolerate this anymore.

Sorry, Rusty. I hope you found what you were looking for. If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

It's all good bro. We just have a thing about posting links to opposing forums. Think of it this way: You walk in to McDonald's, you overhear someone ask for something McD's may not have, then blurt out, "They got that at Burger King.". Same difference.

It will be Brad's (tigersharkdude's) decision to stay or leave.

As far as the modification is concerned, take lots of detailed pics, do a write up here, and then you can get a custom title under your name.

yea i found out what i needed.... thanks and im gonna try and get this done today. im am gonna do a full wright up so that this info is here for us to use.

but yes the q45/j30 calipers are 2-pot, have more pad rotor contact area, and thicker rotors which help with brake fad during spirited/racing driving

The Q brakes should be a lot better since they are designed to stop an almost 5,000 lb car.

the q45/j30 brakes will also clear the factory wheels. the 300zx need ALOT of offset to clear them which limits wheel selection. the only upside to the 300zx calipers would be if you get the aluminum ones, they would reduce the unsprung weight....... other than that they would stop about the same.
