Hey all-

I have a 93 Maxima that I am putting front Q45 calipers and rotors on...At all of the online parts sites, the part numbers for brake pads for cars made from 1990-1993 are different from the pads on the 1994-1996 models. Most sites don't even offer pads for the earlier models. Yet when I go to Napa / Carquest all years use the same part number.

The calipers I bought are off of a 1991 Q45. I want Hawk HPS pads, but apparently they are meant for a 94-96 Q45. If I order Hawks, will they fit onto my calipers with no issues?

What are the specific differences between the early and late-model 1st Gen Q45 front brakes, if any?

Thanks in advance!

Look fo rQ45tech's posts where he sicusses brake pad formulations.

Basically, the early pads were soft and in combination with the specially soft performance Michelins desigend for the G50 had incredible cold brake performance, which is shat most daily drivers encounter.

While the soft pads did wonders for the braking distances, their compound resulted in a lot of brake dust. American consumers, being generally an uneducated mob led by advertisers, saw this as something bad. Subsequently, Nissan formulated a couple of harder pads that would not dust as much, but neither would they perform quite as well in a cold stop.

Do search out the Q45tech posts for the particulars on each of the (I believe) 3 formulations.j
